Nutrition and Stress Management

No one talks about this.

Every day, we read thousands of articles about stress. Breathing techniques, meditation, walks in nature, etc. But very few people ask the question: "What did you eat today to cope with stress?" Because yes, what you eat directly affects your capacity to handle stress.

A body under stress:
• Secretes cortisol,
• Its energy balance is disrupted,
• Emotions fluctuate,
• And mental fogginess begins.

Some foods bring balance to the body and resilience to the mind. So what are these stress-shielding foods?

• Almonds, spinach, bananas, which are magnesium sources that soothe the central nervous system.
• Walnuts, chia seeds, purslane, which are omega-3 sources that provide a calming effect on the brain.
• Eggs, yogurt, oats, which contain tryptophan and support serotonin production.
• Pickles, cabbage, yogurt, fermented olives from fermented foods that regulate mood via the gut-brain axis.
• Dark green leafy vegetables that nourish nerve cells and reduce tension. No one talks about how the kitchen should also be among the ways to manage stress. But now we must.

A day starting with coffee on an empty stomach is like greeting an already stressful day with fire in the body! However, by consciously choosing foods, in a sense, we should apply stress therapy through food. We can slow down stress not only with breathing but also with nutrition.

Today, we should look at our plate and ask, "What is there to calm me down?"

Because sometimes, the right bite is worth a long therapy session.
